Brie fondant with pecans

MELTING BRIE WITH PECANS

Portions : 4 - Preparation : 5 minutes - Cooking time : 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 shallots, finely chopped
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) butter
  • 60 ml (4 tablespoons) maple syrup
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp.) vinegar
  • 5 ml (1 tsp.) dried oregano
  • 1 large brie cheese
  • 250 ml (1 cup) pecans
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven, rack in center, to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Trim the top of the brie to remove a thin layer.
  3. Melt the butter in a hot skillet over medium heat, then add the shallot and sauté for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring regularly.
  4. Add the maple syrup, garlic, vinegar and oregano and stir. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. In an ovenproof dish with a rim slightly higher than the brie, place the brie, spread the shallot mixture, cover with pecans and leave in the oven for 20 minutes.
  6. Serve with bread croutons.
