Shepherd's pie with pork dumplings

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Heat the pork meatballs in their sauce in a skillet for about 5 minutes, just enough to warm through. Shred or cut meatballs into small pieces.
  3. In a casserole dish, spread the shredded pork and sauce in an even layer.
  4. Add a layer of drained corn on top of the meat.
  5. Spread mashed potatoes on top to form an even layer.
  6. If desired, add a few knobs of butter to the mashed potatoes for a light gratin in the oven.
  7. Place in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until the top is lightly browned and everything is heated through.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
