Ingredients
- 500 ml (2 cups) flour
- 60 ml (1/4 cup) sugar
- 10 ml (2 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) warm milk
- 60 ml (1/4 cup) melted butter
- 1 egg
- 15 ml (1 tablespoon) vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
Dubai-style filling
- 250 ml (1 cup) melted milk chocolate
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) melted dark chocolate
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) chopped pistachios
- 250 ml (1 cup) toasted crispy kataifi pastry
Preparation
- Preheat the frying oil to 350°F.
- Combine the flour, sugar, and yeast in a bowl.
- Add the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla, then mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead for a few minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let rise for about 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface, then cut out the doughnuts.
- Let rest for 20 minutes. Fry the doughnuts for 2 to 3 minutes on each side at 350°F or until golden brown, then place on paper towels.
- Dip the tops of the doughnuts in milk chocolate, then drizzle with dark chocolate.
- Garnish generously with chopped pistachios and crispy toasted kataifi pastry to recreate the effect of the famous Dubai chocolate.
