S'mores-Style Filled Donuts

Ingredients

  • 500 ml (2 cups) flour
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) sugar
  • 10 ml (2 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) salt
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) warm milk
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying

S’mores-style filling

  • 250 ml (1 cup) melted dark chocolate
  • 12 large marshmallows
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) crumbled graham crackers

Preparation

  1. Preheat the frying oil to 350°F. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Add the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla, then mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead for a few minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface, then cut out the doughnuts.
  6. Let rest for 20 minutes.
  7. Fry the doughnuts for 2 to 3 minutes on each side at 350°F or until golden brown, then place on paper towels.
  8. Lightly toast the marshmallows with a blowtorch or under the broiler, then place them in the center of the doughnuts.
  9. Dip the tops of the doughnuts in melted dark chocolate, then generously sprinkle with crumbled graham crackers.
