Apple crumble cake, pudding chômeur style

Gâteau crumble aux pommes façon pouding chômeur

Ingredients

For the sauce

  • 190 ml (¾ cup) heavy cream
  • 125 ml (½ cup) maple syrup
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) brown sugar
  • 2.5 ml (½ teaspoon) vanilla extract
  • Zest of ½ lemon

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) with the rack in the middle.
  2. Combine the sauce ingredients in a saucepan and mix well.
  3. Bring to a boil, then simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes, whisking occasionally.
  4. Transfer the crumble cake to an ovenproof dish and pour the sauce over it.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes.
  6. Let cool slightly and sprinkle with sea salt before serving.
