GRILLED CHEESE D'ICI
Portions : 4 - Preparation : 10 minutes - Cooking : 20 minutes
Ingredients
- 2 white onions, thinly sliced
- 30 ml (2 tablespoons) olive oil
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 45 ml (3 tbsp.) maple syrup
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) water
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) hot mustard
- 8 slices household white bread
- 4 slices mozzarella
- 4 slices white ham
- 2 Québec apples (e.g. Honeycrisps), thinly sliced
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 4 slices Tome du Québec or other semi-soft cheese
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) butter, unsalted and soft
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
- In a hot skillet, sauté the onions in a little oil over medium heat for 5 minutes.
- Add the garlic, maple syrup and water and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Adjust the seasoning, add the mustard and set aside off the heat.
- Lay out 4 slices of bread on a work surface. On each slice, place 1 slice of mozzarella, then 1 slice of ham, then spread the onion compote.
- Top with slices of apple, avocado and cheese.
- Close the sandwiches with the remaining slices of bread.
- Butter the bread slices on the outside.
- Place the sandwiches in a hot frying pan over medium heat and toast on each side for around 4 to 5 minutes.
