Mexican burger with avocado, lime, and cilantro

Burger mexicain à l’avocat, lime et coriandre

Ingredients

  • 450 to 900 g (1 to 2 lbs) ground beef (medium-lean)
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) finely chopped French shallots
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) Tex-Mex seasoning
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) honey
  • 4 classic or jalapeño burger buns
  • 4 slices Havarti or Cheddar cheese
  • 1 ripe avocado, diced
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) chopped fresh cilantro
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) olive oil
  • 1 sliced tomato
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) mayonnaise
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) lime juice
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) hot sauce, to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

 

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix the ground beef with the shallots, Tex-Mex spices, honey, salt, and pepper, and form 4 patties.
  2. In another bowl, mix the avocado with the cilantro, a drizzle of olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. Grill the patties in a skillet or on the barbecue for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side, depending on desired doneness.
  4. Place a slice of cheese on each patty at the end of cooking to melt it.
  5. Mix the mayonnaise with the lime juice and hot sauce.
  6. Lightly toast the buns.
  7. Spread the sauce on the buns, add the tomatoes, the cheese patty, and then the avocado and cilantro topping.
  8. Serve immediately with fries or a salad.
