Ingredients

French Fries

  • 1 kg Russet potatoes
  • Frying oil
  • Salt

Topping

  • 450 g lean ground beef
  • 15 ml vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 125 ml dill pickles, chopped
  • 15 ml steak seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 500 ml nacho-style cheese sauce
  • 500 ml cheese curds

Preparation

  1. Cut the potatoes into sticks about 1 cm thick. Rinse them thoroughly under cold water to remove excess starch, then pat them dry.
  2. Preheat a deep fryer to 150 °C (300 °F). Cook the fries for 5 to 6 minutes, without letting them brown. Remove them and let them rest for a few minutes.
  3. Increase the fryer temperature to 190 °C (375 °F). Fry the fries a second time for 2 to 4 minutes, until they are golden brown and crispy. Season with salt immediately.
  4. Meanwhile, reheat the cheese sauce.
  5. In a skillet over high heat with the oil, brown the ground beef. Add the onion and cook until tender.
  6. Add the pickles, steak seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  7. Divide the fries among the bowls. Add the cheese curds, top with the beef mixture, then generously drizzle with cheese sauce.
