Ingredients
French Fries
- 1 kg Russet potatoes
- Frying oil
- Salt
Topping
- 450 g lean ground beef
- 15 ml vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 125 ml dill pickles, chopped
- 15 ml steak seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 500 ml nacho-style cheese sauce
- 500 ml cheese curds
Preparation
- Cut the potatoes into sticks about 1 cm thick. Rinse them thoroughly under cold water to remove excess starch, then pat them dry.
- Preheat a deep fryer to 150 °C (300 °F). Cook the fries for 5 to 6 minutes, without letting them brown. Remove them and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Increase the fryer temperature to 190 °C (375 °F). Fry the fries a second time for 2 to 4 minutes, until they are golden brown and crispy. Season with salt immediately.
- Meanwhile, reheat the cheese sauce.
- In a skillet over high heat with the oil, brown the ground beef. Add the onion and cook until tender.
- Add the pickles, steak seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Divide the fries among the bowls. Add the cheese curds, top with the beef mixture, then generously drizzle with cheese sauce.
