GENERAL TAO OF SALMON
Portions : 4 - Preparation : 10 minutes - Cooking time : about 10 minutes
Ingredients
- 400 g salmon, coarsely cubed
- 250 ml (1 cup) cornstarch
- 90 ml (6 tablespoons) cooking oil
- 1 bell bell pepper, julienned
- 500 ml (2 cups) cauliflower, florets
- 4 green onion stalks, sliced
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) sesame seeds
- 4 portions cooked white rice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- General Tao sauce
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) brown sugar
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) ketchup
- 60 ml (4 tablespoons) vinegar
- 60 ml (4 tbsp.) soy sauce
- 15 ml (1 tbsp.) hot sauce
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 15 ml (1 tbsp.) fresh ginger, chopped
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) sesame oil
Preparation
- In a bowl, combine salmon cubes and cornstarch.
- In a hot skillet, over high heat, brown salmon cubes in cooking oil for 2 minutes on each side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same hot skillet, sauté bell bell pepper and cauliflower for 3 to 4 minutes. Remove and set aside with salmon.
- In same hot skillet, add brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, soy sauce, hot sauce, garlic, ginger, sesame oil and mix.
- Add 60 ml (4 tbsp.) water and stir to combine. Check seasoning.
- Add salmon and vegetables to skillet and toss to coat.
- Garnish with green onion, sesame seeds and serve with rice.
