Bacon-cheddar sausage pizza hot dog

Hot-dog pizza à la saucisse bacon-cheddar

Ingredients

  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) butter
  • 45 ml (3 tbsp) maple syrup
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) herbes de Provence
  • 4 bacon-cheddar sausages
  • 1 ball of pizza dough
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp) yellow mustard
  • 250 ml (1 cup) Louis d’Or cheese, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 290°C (550°F) with the rack in the center
  2. In a skillet, cook the onions in butter for 5 minutes, stirring regularly.
  3. Add the maple syrup, garlic, and herbes de Provence, and continue cooking over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onions are tender and caramelized.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. In a skillet or on the grill, cook the sausages for 5 to 6 minutes, turning them occasionally so they are cooked through and lightly browned.
  6. Divide the pizza dough into 4 portions and stretch them slightly to form flatbreads.
  7. Place a sausage in the center of each piece of dough and bake in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown.
  8. Once out of the oven, top each pizza hot dog with caramelized onions, a drizzle of yellow mustard, and grated Louis d’Or cheese.
  9. Serve immediately.

Note: If baking in a pizza oven, allow about 3 to 5 minutes of cooking time.
