Servings: 12 mini donuts
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 8 minutes
Ingredients
- 250 ml (1 cup) all-purpose flour
- 5 ml (1 teaspoon) baking powder
- 2.5 ml (½ teaspoon) ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch of salt
- 30 ml (2 tablespoons) brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 80 ml (⅓ cup) milk
- 30 ml (2 tablespoons) melted butter
- 2.5 ml (½ teaspoon) vanilla extract
- 125 ml (½ cup) apple, peeled and finely grated
- A little cooking spray
For the Topping
- 30 ml (2 tablespoons) melted butter
- 60 ml (¼ cup) sugar
- 5 ml (1 teaspoon) ground cinnamon
Preparation
- In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and brown sugar.
- In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Add the grated apple and mix.
- Fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix just enough to form a smooth, slightly sticky dough, being careful not to overwork it.
- On a lightly floured surface, gently roll out the dough to about 1.5 cm (½ in.) thick. Using a small round cookie cutter, cut out the mini donuts, then remove the center with a smaller cookie cutter.
- Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C (350 °F). Lightly spray the basket with oil and place the mini donuts in a single layer, leaving a little space between each one.
- Bake for 6 to 8 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are puffed and lightly golden. Bake in several batches if necessary.
Mix the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
As soon as you take them out of the air fryer, lightly brush the donuts with melted butter, then roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Serve warm.
