Summer pizza sandwich

Ingredients

  • 250 ml (1 cup) strawberries, quartered
  • 250 ml (1 cup) cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 2 green onion stalks, sliced
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) red wine vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 8 to 10 basil leaves, finely chopped
  • 90 ml (6 tbsp) olive oil
  • 2 balls of pizza dough
  • 500 ml (2 cups) grated mozzarella cheese
  • 6 to 8 very thin slices of cooked ham
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, combine the strawberries, tomatoes, green onion, vinegar, garlic, basil, 60 ml (4 tbsp) of olive oil, salt, and pepper. Check the seasoning and set this salad aside.
  2. On a floured work surface, roll out the pizza dough balls to the size of your pan.
  3. In a large, hot skillet over high heat, drizzle a little olive oil over medium heat, then add a pizza base and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, until golden brown. Turn over.
  4. In the center of the dough, add half of the cheese and cook for another 2 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
  5. Immediately top with half of the ham and the strawberry and tomato salad.
  6. Fold the dough over itself like a sandwich, press lightly, then remove from the heat.
  7. Repeat the steps for the second ball of dough.
  8. Cut each pizza sandwich in half and serve immediately.
