Cheese bites with apples and prosciutto cotto

Ingredients

  • 1 Artesano Classic White Baguette
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped
  • 1 apple, finely diced
  • 1.2 fl oz (2 tbsp) olive oil
  • 1.2 fl oz (2 tbsp) maple syrup
  • 1 pinch dried thyme
  • 60 ml (4 tbsp) spiced rum
  • 8 slices raclette cheese, cut into 4 pieces
  • 100 g (3 1/2 oz) cooked ham, thinly sliced, cut into 4 pieces
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) with the rack in the center.
  2. In a hot skillet, sauté the shallot and apple in a little olive oil for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Add the syrup and thyme, then deglaze with the rum.
  4. Cut the baguette into 1/2-inch thick slices.
  5. Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet and top each with the prepared mixture and cheese. Bake for 10 minutes.
  6. Top each slice of bread with the shredded ham.
