Ingredients

  • 1 ball of pizza dough
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) olive oil
  • 8 to 12 thin slices of mortadella
  • 250 ml (1 cup) strawberries, sliced
  • 250 ml (1 cup) tomatoes, sliced
  • ½ red onion, finely sliced
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) red wine vinegar
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) garlic, finely chopped
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) olive oil
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) fresh basil
  • 200 ml (about 1 cup) burrata or fresh mozzarella
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) spiced honey
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to the highest temperature with the rack in the center.
  2. On a work surface, roll out the ball of pizza dough with a rolling pin.
  3. Brush half of the dough with olive oil, then fold the dough over itself to form a sandwich.
  4. Place the dough on a baking sheet and bake in the oven until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Meanwhile, thread the mortadella slices onto two skewers.
  6. In a hot skillet, pan-fry the mortadella slices in a little oil for about 1 to 2 minutes on each side, until they are slightly crispy.
  7. In a bowl, mix the strawberries, tomatoes, onion, vinegar, garlic, oil, basil, pepper, and salt.
  8. Slice open the warm bread, top with burrata or mozzarella, add the strawberry and tomato salad, place the grilled mortadella on top (removing the skewers), and finish with a drizzle of spiced honey.
